Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between Early maladaptive schemas and self-efficacy among Master 2 level undergraduate students representing diverse disciplines at Ibn Khaldun University -Tiaret-.
Employing multiple regression analysis, the research aims to identify specific schemas that serve as predictors for changes in self-efficacy values within the studied cohort comprising 340 male and female students.
Participants were chosen through convenience sampling, and data collection involved the application of Jeffery Young's abbreviated early maladaptive schemas scale and Walaa Youssef's self-efficacy scale.
The findings reveal a significant relationship between the two variables, with only six out of 15 identified schemas demonstrating predictive capabilities for self-efficacy. These schemas are categorized into two groups: those with direct prediction (lack of mastery, control, sacrifice) and those with inverse prediction (dependency, lack of control, submission).
Additionally, the study identifies four schemas predicting the initiative dimension, including those with direct prediction (lack of mastery, control) and inverse prediction (dependency, neglect).
Results pertaining to the perseverance dimension highlights two schemas with direct prediction (lack of mastery, control) and three with inverse prediction (submission, dependency, lack of control). The dimension of effort exhibits four identified schemas, with two predicting directly (lack of mastery, control) and one predicting inversely (dependency, lack of control).
Similarly, the effectiveness capacity dimension reveals four schemas, with two predicting directly (control, sacrifice) and two predicting inversely (dependency, submission).
These outcomes contribute valuable insights into the psychological factors influencing self-efficacy prediction among university students.
Keywords: Early unadapted cognitive schemas; Self-efficacy.
