Abstract
Abstract:
Taxes are considered as one of the most important tools of economic
intervention in our time, after their role that was confined to fill the state’s
resources. It has also become known economically as the way that enables
the state to direct its economy and correct the deviations of its economic
policy. It has become playing an important role in economic interactions.
The main objective of this study is to know the role that the tax component
plays in influencing investment decisions, including economic development,
through tax rates, reductions and tax exemptions.
The study found that tax policy affects economic activity through three main
ways, by affecting the demand for goods or services, through tax incentives
to affect savings, investment and work, or by increasing or decreasing the
budget deficit.
We also studied the impact of tax incentives on encouraging investment and
achieving economic development, by evaluating the cost of tax incentives
granted within the framework of investment support agencies, and we found
that non-tax factors determine investment decisions more than the tax
component.
Keywords: tax policy; tax incentives; tax burden; encouraging investment;
economic development.
