Abstract: This study tackles the main features of poetism in the narrative prose, taking the novel “Ain Hammurabi” of Abdellatif Oueld Abdellah as a focal point. The study starts from the theoretical part and studies the concepts of poetism and narration. Then, it defies poetism and discusses its appearance thanks to the ancient Western philosophers. After that, it discusses the emergence of poetism in the Arab world, mainly for the rhetoricians, critics, and philosophers. Besides, it sheds light on the modern poetism in the Arab and Western worlds according to the trends and methods. Then, the study focuses on the world of narration, mainly the concept of narration, and leaves the other elements to the preambles of the practical chapters. The 1st chapter focuses on the elements of time and space, and provides a definition for time and how it is viewed by the critics and theorizers. In the practical side, we tackled the chronological relations in the narrative text and spoke about the relations of temporal permanence, including the acceleration and slowing down of narration. Then, we defined the space according to the views of theorizers and critics, discussed its manifestations, and referred to the open and closed spaces. The 2nd chapter is about the poetism of the event and the nature of the narrative event. In the practical side, it sheds light on the structure, building, and temporal contexts of the events and their elements. The chapter ends with the main manifestations of the narrative event in the study novel. Moreover, the 3rd chapter revolves around the poetism of the narrative character, and starts from its concept and how it is viewed by critics. In the practical side, we discussed the main and secondary characters and focused on the protagonist and the big structures of the characters. The last chapter is about the poetism of the narrative language, its concept, and the poetism hidden in the title of the novel under study, which is a parallel text in itself that implies and summarizes the content of the narrative text. Then, we discussed the metaphors to know their literariness and effect on the text. After that, we shed light on the forms and manifestations of intersexuality, and ended with all what is related to the narrative work. Based on what was said, the novel under study is full of the features of poetism.
