Abstract

This has enhanced the shift from sentence level research into the level of discourse analysis. In contrast, the science of tafsir (exegesis) in the Arab-Islamic civilisation is a theory of producing an integrated discourse analysis, through the interpreter's reliance on mechanisms that go beyond the consideration of the linguistic structure to mechanisms that deal with the discourse. Since al-Tabari achieved mastery in various sciences and leadership in many arts, we wanted to reveal the mechanisms of linguistic, textual and pragmatic analysis that he relied on in his analysis of the Qur'anic text.
