Comprehension and Written Expression A Pedagogical Support for Second Year Students

Abstract

The course Comprehension and Written Expression is designed to develop the academic writing skills of L2 university students. It focuses on enhancing students’ ability to understand, analyze, and interpret a variety of written texts while expressing ideas clearly, accurately, and coherently in written form. Through classroom practice, students build essential competencies such as vocabulary development, text organization, and critical thinking. The course encourages effective communication across academic contexts, enabling students to respond to texts, construct well-structured paragraphs, and produce coherent essays. By the end of the course, students are expected to demonstrate improved comprehension skills and greater competency in written expression in the target language.
