Abstract

Environmental participation, in addition to being a procedural right on which the right to the environment is based, the pillar of paticipatory and administrative democracy and a tributary of sustainable development is a pr- inciple that allows every person, according to legal systems, to participate in the decision-making process that has an impact on the environment. Its requirement, in general, is the person’s ability to participate in public decision-making processes that have an impact on the environment. However, it can only be implemented in practice through mechanisms provided for by law, and the opinions, observations and suggestions of the public must be taken into account. It is also a response to the daty of protecting the environment that falls on individuals. This study aims to demonstrate the effectiveness of these mechanisms in contrast to the difference in comparative legislation in adopting them in terms of type and plurality, and the effect left by their adoption or not.
